There is an obvious and incredible matter here, and it is this: all over the world, mankind has destroyed the animals with whom they lived while they were becoming human. All life is interconnected and, if one has destroyed the other lifeforms that came to be your fellows, you become in danger of extinction because your animal cohabitants are not there to protect you. Native Americans now are trying to re-establish the animals with whom they once lived. Do you not see the principle? Read the story, and weep...
All Best
Russ ZBates
'writerfella'writerfellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00111681906238053379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29769707.post-91385727358830290432008-01-28T19:13:00.000-08:002008-01-28T19:13:00.000-08:00Yeah, I read the book and also found the few menti...Yeah, I read the book and also found the few mentions of Indians to be gratuituous, inaccurate or just plain silly, which distracted from my overall enjoyment. I saw a television version on (I think) the Learning Channel with some very cool computer graphics depicting the decay of abandoned cities. EuroMan has sown the seeds of his own demise but he also has the audacity to believe that he will take all the rest of mankind with him when he goes. "Horseman" tells just exactly why EuroMan is mistaken. Add in the fact that the story languished almost 30 years in Harlan Ellison's never-published THE LAST DANGEROUS VISIONS, and you get an idea of how much the story has come to mean in the 21st Century. In the story, EuroMan soon will be gone but he will take everyone with him, save for the Native Americans. Read the story and weep...
All Best Russ Bates
'writerfella'writerfellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00111681906238053379noreply@blogger.com
