I see what you are doing as something good since our culture is alive, but the old ways are being forgotten and its diminishing little by little or it changes. So by learning more about Yaomachtia I see it as an act of cultural preservation by means of preserving and keeping alive one aspect of our culture. My family is from Aguascalientes mexico, but I have family from mexico city too and I use to be a danzante from a very young age, I went to Academia semillas Del pueblo Xinachcalmecac an anahuacalmecac where I learned about not just about my peoples culture and ways of life, but a little bit about myself as an indigenous Mexican youth and I feel learning more about my people will restore our identities as members of the mexica tribe. A lot of ndn languages are like German or Latin, in that you can make up a new word from two other words. War training just makes sense in that way.

Of course, it can mean any number of things. The difficulty with the Aztecs and Mayans is that the Spanish pretty much wiped out much of their culture, leaving only four books. Basically imagine all the Western images of ignorance triumphing over knowledge at once, within a short period of time.

This still doesn't make "yaomachtia" and "ndonzog" into a formalized system the way karate is, of course.

Part of the problem is the way martial artists use the term martial arts. It doesn't just mean from the Pacific Rim anymore; capoeira is generally considered a martial art, for instance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
