The slavery issue came up quite a bit.<br /><br />However, there's this myth in American history textbooks that Indian removal began with Jackson. Indeed, according to conservatives, if they admit the U.S. has a history of genocide, Jackson (aided by liberal ideology, no doubt), Jackson will be the ur-example, if not the only example.<br /><br />In reality, Jackson was a free-market populist. He regularly spoke of nullification.
