Holiday viewing for Native fans

And so, it is Christmas...And What Should We Watch?Don’t worry. I’m not going to wax philosophical in a nauseating retrospective that have become as common and welcome as those hideous inflatable snow globe lawn ornaments.

Nope. Just a few ideas on how to enjoy the leisure time most of us have the next few days. Like watching a few of our favorite Native and Native-themed movies, that is. So here’s a start, a few must-see (and accessible) films that are available at Amazon and other video retailers. And no, I don’t list Dances With Wolves...

I think writer fella had too much Christmas nog when he wrote this or he is very jealous of Sherman Alexis success as a writer and film maker. He also needs a dictionary to look up adjectives for context, insular, incestuous and self-serving? Tsk tsk...

oops, my mistake I hit the wrong key and used a comma instead of a period. The last part of my sentence should have read "He also needs a dictionary to look up adjectives for context. Insular, incestuous and self-serving? Tsk tsk..."
As for you weighing 75 LB less than Sherman Alexie, I'm going to assume you would have to be very small in stature. It all makes sense now, you have a Napoleon complex.

  3. Not that it's relevant to the original posting, but Alexie was fairly slender when I saw him a few years ago. I give his novel Indian Killer an 8 of 10 and his movie The Business of Fancydancing a 9 of 10.

I know Sherman Alexie is over 6 foot and I think I read some where that he weighs about 200 LB.
The Business of Fancydancing was OK. I don't think I would give it a 9, maybe a 5 if that. Interesting note about the movie, it was the first time I ever heard the word "suyapi" spoken outside of my family circle. I used to think no one new what that word meant.

  5. My ratings compare The Business of Fancydancing and Indian Killer to all other movies and books based on my perception of their quality. I don't mind "auctorial" asides or other literary gimmicks if they're well done.

Alexie looks a bit stocky in the photo Russ sent. But 200 lbs. for someone over 6 feet tall isn't excessive.
