Miss Navajo documentary

'Miss Navajo'--a look at modern Navajo lifeThis movie doesn't just profile what the contestants go through in the pageant but also gives us the history behind the pageant and what it means to be a Navajo woman.

The movie starts out with contestant Crystal Frazier in her home in Table Mesa, N.M. We see the desolate trailer sitting in the middle of nowhere with no running water. Crystal and her family are hauling water, as many Navajos still do.

We start to learn that Crystal is funny, articulate and entered the contest on a dare. Now she is practicing the Navajo language, getting her clothes ready and butchering sheep in preparation.
