O'Reilly:  WASPs should rule

O’Reilly, McCain discuss the ‘white, Christian, male power structure’Bill O’Reilly: But do you understand what the New York Times wants, and the far-left want? They want to break down the white, Christian, male power structure, which you’re a part, and so am I, and they want to bring in millions of foreign nationals to basically break down the structure that we have. In that regard, Pat Buchanan is right. So I say you’ve got to cap it with a number.

O’Reilly’s concern for maintaining the “white, Christian, male power structure” struck me as about as offensive as what got Don Imus fired.

Think about it—if a KKK official appeared on Fox News, wouldn’t you expect him to make similar comments? And isn’t it more than a little disconcerting when O’Reilly’s rhetoric and racist rhetoric is one and the same?

What is forgotten here is that the FAUX News Network's Bill O'Reilly is not a newsman or a journalist but instead is a talk show host, an entertainer, a poseur who takes otherwise controversial stances because it sells and garners ratings. He knows quite well indeed that no one ever went broke pandering and selling to the lowest common denominator. One hundred and twenty-five years ago, Bill O'Reilly would be performing from a gaudily-painted wagon, selling snake oil cures in frontier towns...

  2. Forgotten by whom? I for one didn't forget anything. Did you?

O'Reilly is a leading spokesman for right-wing movement. He exemplifies the conservative mindset to millions of people. What he says is often newsworthy for that reason.

And that is where he fails the litmus test for being a worthy and legitimate journalist, when he becomes the news instead of someone who simply reports it...
