Meteorite price to soar?

Galactic War

Meteor Fight Means a Sky-High PriceA feud between a New York meteorite collector and an Oregon Indian tribe could send the value of a disputed space rock shooting into the stratosphere.

Bonhams is set to hawk collector Darryl Pitt's prized 30-pound chunk of the Williamette Meteorite on Oct. 28, touching off a PR war between the meteor connoisseur and the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon, which consider the rock sacred.

The controversy, meanwhile, could spin the meteorite's sale price light years past the expected $1.1 million.
