Sto:lo Lieutenant-Governor sworn in

A day of history, punctuated with controversy

B.C. Premier fumes after Hansard instructed not to make official record of swearing-in of Canada's first native Lieutenant-GovernorHistory was made in British Columbia yesterday as the province's first aboriginal Lieutenant-Governor was sworn in at the legislature in a ceremony that included a 15-gun salute, bagpipes, a military honour guard, Sto:lo drumming and Coast Salish prayers.

But Premier Gordon Campbell was left fuming when overzealous protocol efforts obscured the public record of Steven Point's swearing-in as the province's 28th Lieutenant-Governor.
