Native South Carolina

Visitors guide puts history in hand

New resource explores Native American life across S.C.South Carolina is brimming with Native American sites, from shell rings on the coast to Cherokee towns in the mountains.

But other than a handful of well-known sites, that history has been hard to find. Soon, however, a new visitors guide will shine a spotlight on the state’s Native American culture, with the intention of giving the state and its tribes a tourism boost.
