Miss Navajo tackles abuse

Cody uses personal pain to reach abuse victimsRadmilla Cody, the former Miss Navajo Nation who ended up in prison at the end of an abusive relationship, knows something about that.

Talented, beautiful, successful--none of it prevented her from sliding so far under the control of her drug dealer boyfriend that she literally came to fear for her life.

Now Cody is using her personal story to reach other Navajo youth who may be in a similar trap.

She's speaking in schools and communities to raise awareness about teen dating violence through her "Strong Spirit...Life is Beautiful Not Abusive" campaign.
