'Those who control the energy control the economics'
At a meeting in Rapid City on Saturday, Means said he has been talking with representatives of a California company about plans to put windmills on land owned by both Native Americans and non-Natives willing to become citizens of the new Republic of Lakotah. He declined to name the company.
Means, a longtime activist, said he and other organizers have met with tribal members of the Standing Rock, Rosebud and Yankton Sioux tribes. Windmills could be sprouting on the Standing Rock, Rosebud and possibly Pine Ridge reservations this spring, he said.
"We are legal and, most important, we are lawful," he said. "There aren't going to be any Wounded Knees," he said, referring to AIM's 71-day standoff with federal and tribal authorities on the Pine Ridge reservation village in 1973.
Means predicted that existing city, county and state governments, as well as tribal governments, would continue but eventually wither away as the new country flourishes.
That's smart but also somewhat cowardly. If he truly believes the US treaties with the Lakota are void and his people still own the land, why not take possession of it? I mean all of it, not the small fractions that someone who actually owns the land is willing to give him. Why not set up his government somewhere, evict the state and federal authorities, and see what happens?
That this newspaper would even use the phrase "new republic" in its headline is a joke. "Alleged republic" is closer to the truth. Or if you want to be nasty about it, "make-believe republic."

ReplyDeleteRussell Means is about two years late on a matter of a wind energy project since the Comanche and the Kiowa tribes authorized such a project that currently is in effect. There are two hundred such windmills in operation and they are producing electricity that will reduce the electrical bills of senior citizens of both tribes by April of this year. writerfella already has seen a $50 drop in his utility bill, and it should become larger very shortly. Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the Plains, is about to find the local Native Americans able to get ahead of the game and make the local cities start to regret...

It is made up, for sure. It reminds me a little of the "Aztlan" nation to be carved out of much of the southwest US. This is advocated by a group of what amounts to Latino Nazis, who favor a racially pure homeland and use all kinds of supermacist rhetoric. I suppose it's also close to what the KKK wants.
ReplyDelete"There aren't going to be any Wounded Knees"
Because there is no such thing as a third knee.
(P.S. I rarely point out spelling, punctuation, etc. but I noticed Mean's in the title instead of Means')

ReplyDeleteCareful of mentioning such typos, as Rob very much is prone to calling his posters 'liars' and thence to remove such posts, which he already has said he CANNOT do. Therefore, who is the actual 'liar?' And, oh, the word is spelled 'supremacist.' Or even 'supremist...'

Thanks for noting the typo, DMarks. I fixed it.

Wrong again, Russ. I said I can delete comments but not edit them. If you can find a quote to the contrary, feel free to post it. Otherwise, don't misstate what I said again.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You're the only person I've called a liar, and only when you've lied. If you don't like it, stop lying.

ReplyDeleteToo bad, but writerfella long has had to endure being labeled as a 'liar' by EuroMen because that is the easiest manner in which writerfella's comments and/or opinions can be dismissed. REMOVAL of such commentary and/or opinions, however, totally is new to writerfella, but of course, he should have expected it as the NEXT step in the game. Nonetheless, writerfella knows one thing: he is Native and his detractor is NOT...

Being lied to in my own blog is a new experience for me, so we're even.
ReplyDeleteYes, you should've expected that I'd start deleting your lies eventually. Few people are as tolerant of pontificators and prevaricators as I've been.
Readers can see your lies and my rebuttals of same here. They can and will judge your truthfulness for themselves.
If you're not as dumb as you are dishonest, feel free to prove that you told the truth. Otherwise, your comments stand as plain evidence of your dishonesty.
Here's a clue for everyone else. Note that Russ doesn't try to defend his lies. He doesn't even repeat them because he knows they're false. Instead, he acts indignant and hopes you won't know what we're talking about.
How stupid can you get? Russ is like a child who thinks no one can prove he lied if he denies it. Unfortunately for him, I can link to his lies from now until kingdom come. They're written in black and white for everyone to see.
Russ: From now on, whenever you repeat a lie, I plan to delete it and refer readers to the same links. If you don't like it, again, stop lying. That's the only choice I'm offering.
