Democrats help Indians politically

Dems reach out to Native AmericansThe national party is working with state parties to hire full-time staff to reach out at a state level, rather than engaging only voters in key demographics or during election years. Every state, says LaVera, now has at least three full-time party employees. And four states--Arizona, Oklahoma, Alaska and New Mexico--have full-time Native American party organizers.

The 50 State Plan also encourages American Indians to seek office. “The Democratic Party has always said everyone deserves a place at the table,” says La Vera. “But Chairman Dean said that wasn’t enough. He said Native Americans needed a place on the ballots.”

The plan is working, he adds, noting that in 2006, a record 64 Native Americans were elected to state legislatures in 14 different states.

writerfella's own nieces, Krystal and Amy Caesar, went through the training programs this year to become full-time Native American party organizers. In fact, writerfella partially funded their participation in the training. It is doubtful that his nieces will run for offices themselves but they are avid to support those who do. Now, what happens from this point forward will determine if the efforts at all were worthwhile. One thing that they do know is that they do NOT support Barack HUSSEIN Obama. The clock is ticking...

  2. Whom do they support, then? And whom do you support?

We're waiting for you to stop sniping at Obama and name a better candidate. You can do something other than snipe at people, can't you?

It is you, Rob, who always is off on a snipe hunt. And it is you who always is licking Barack HUSSEIN Obama's campaign boots and cheerleading for him and expressing that Obama can do no wrong. You miss the very obvious historical fact that the "better candidate" ordinarily does not win. One only has to examine the eight years of Ronald Reagan or the four years of George Bush I or the soon-to-be eight years of George Bush II to see that the "better candidate" did not win. And Americans, Blue States and Red States all, did not get the government they deserved but rather deserved the government they got. If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee, John McCain will win the next Presidency in a landslide, and eight more years of bad road will the the next Trail Of Tears...

  4. Don't be stupid. I criticize Obama whenever he does something negative regarding Indians. For instance, I criticized him implicitly for not attending the Prez on the Rez forum.

I haven't criticized any politician--Clinton, McCain, or Bush--here much because they haven't had much to do with Indians. As you may recall--because I've told you repeatedly--the subject of this blog is the intersection of Native America and pop culture. If you want to see my political views, check out my other blog: News from a Multicultural Perspective.

Meanwhile, we're still waiting for you to stop sniping at Obama and name a better candidate. You can do something other than snipe at people, can't you?

  5. Alas, Russ, your comments on the 2008 presidential election proved to be incredibly ignorant. For more on the subject, see Stupidest Indian Prediction Ever.
