On the Native science circuit

Diné teen has crowded speaking calendarTwo years after coming in seventh in a televised national science project competition, Piñon Chapter science whiz Garrett Yazzie's celebrity hasn't worn off.

Instead, he's become a coveted speaker on the Native science circuit.

Yazzie's latest invitation, from the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science, may see him sharing the podium with green living advocate Al Gore.

Gore, Yazzie and many others have been invited to speak at "International Polar Year: Global Change in Our Communities," the organization's annual conference. It takes place Oct. 9-12 in Salt Lake City.
Comment:  Who knew there was such a thing as a Native science circuit? Not me.
