KCK team is softball champ

KCK claims second straight Native World Series crownSoftball players from the Colville Confederated Tribes were part of a team that defended its co-ed softball title at the Native American World Series Sept. 26-28 in Mesquite, Nev.

The men finished fourth in their tournament while the women took third.

But in co-ed play the team, dubbed KCK, was the first to defend a title at the tournament since it started in 1986, reports player Benny Marchand.

The team's name comes from members being from the Kalispell (near Cusick), Colville and Kootenai tribes.
