“I get into the gym every single day, seven days a week, two hours a day, eat as much as I possibly can,” he told Access. “[I’m] going crazy.”
Taylor said he’s put on 26 pounds since starting his training regimen the day after he finished filming “Twilight”—and he’s not done yet.
“I put on 20 pounds and then I guaranteed 10 more pounds,” he said. “I’ve already put on about six, so four more pounds. I’m a man of my word.”
Native Americans Outraged Over Twilight Fraud
Native or not native, in a recent television interview about his reception by the Native community while promoting the film, Taylor told the press how: “I actually had a meeting with Quileute tribal members yesterday! I interviewed them and just wanted to get to know them. One thing they do that I noticed is they don't need to be told to what to do. If the trash is getting full, they empty it out. They're always helping each other and are really nice. They are people just like you and me.”
So Lautner's agent all but concedes that the decision to cast Lautner was wrong. "No one will know the difference" because no one knows or cares about inauthentic representations of Natives in the media. Well, we know, you racists.
For more on the subject, see Quileute Werewolves in Twilight.
Below: "We're Quileute Indians!"
" Indians are people just like you and me! This is the person whom the producers have chosen to represent Natives to millions of eager fans. Wonderful."
ReplyDeleteThere are much worse things he could have said. And I have yet to read of Stephanie Meyer having any sort of contact with the Quileutes, or any other Natives.
It's frustrating that a non native has been chosen to represent the Native American community but this is not Lautner's fault. He is obviously trying to make an effort and that should be applauded. The people who should be chastised are the Hollywood big wigs. They take the simplest route for getting a movie cast. What needs to change is how Hollywood sources their talent. Why don't they look for talented actors where they are, at home. I have met numerous actors with bags more talent than many in Hollywood who will never be more than weekend players because Hollywood doesn't look outside of it self for talent. Hollywood, not Lautner needs to change.
