Local artists Tim Paul and Rod Sayers will be working collaboratively with eight other Nuu-chah-nulth artists to produce two pieces of art work each that will be shown at Olympic venues this winter. One piece will be shown at Olympic venues, and the other will be auctioned off later, project coordinator Kelly Foxcroft-Poirier said.
The crown jewel of the project will be four glass encased cedar boxes stacked to stand five metres high. The traditional-contemporary melded piece will serve as an outdoor sculpture outside the Richmond Skating Oval, which was one of the first venues to get aboriginal art under the VANOC Aboriginal Art program.
