In the Land of the Assiniboine

New documentary chronicles Assiniboine TribeThe Assiniboine Tribe's rich and complex history is being told in a striking documentary, titled "In the Land of the Assiniboine."

Produced by the Valley County Historical Society and award-winning cinematographers with Camera One Productions, the film is earning high praise and even a place in national museums.
And:The film documents the tribe's geographical migration, starting in the 1600s with the arrival of horses and its adaptation into a mobile society following migrating buffalo.

It also tells the story of failed peace treaties, the loss of land, the pressure to settle on reservations and the effects of bison slaughter.
