The 39-year-old will receive the award, established 20 years ago by the late by Canadian painter Gershon Iskowitz, at a public reception on May 6.
Jungen, who born in Fort St. John, B.C., has exhibited his works around Canada and internationally.
His pieces include a life-sized igloo made with trash bins, an aboriginal-style blanket stitched out of professional sports jerseys, and native-looking masks crafted from Nike Air Jordans sneakers.
