Natives lead Arizona law protest

Native contingent leads anti-S.B. 1070 March

Standing in solidarity with indigenous migrants

By Shadi Rahimi
As an estimated 100,000 people marched six miles May 30 to protest Arizona’s new immigration law, they were led by Lakotas, Paiutes, Yavapai-Apache, Tohono O’odham, Akimel O’odham, and other tribal members.

Those in front held a banner that read, “Lakota-Nation: America Was Built With Stolen Land. No Border. No Boundaries.”

Shannon Rivers, an Akimel O’odham who organized the contingent, said they were marching in solidarity with “brothers and sisters” crossing the borders, and for the right of mobility for indigenous people.

Rivers said Senate Bill 1070--which would make the failure to carry immigration documents a crime and give the police the power to detain anyone suspected of being in the country without citizenship--is a racist bill that should be repealed.
Navajo Nation Council opposes AZ immigration lawLawmakers on the country's largest American Indian reservation have voted to formally oppose Arizona's tough new immigration law.

The Navajo Nation Council voted against the immigration law Tuesday during a special session in Window Rock.

Council Delegate Kee Allen Begay sponsored the measure. He says he sees the immigration law as an attempt to harass American Indians, who can resemble Mexican nationals.
Comment:  You go, people! These protests appear to be working, so keep 'em up!

Some Americans are using words like "illegal" and "criminal" in addressing the new law Arizona has passed against immigrants coming into America to work, but history is full of "laws" being broken beginning with the prosecution of Jesus preaching against the established theologians of his time on through the American governments "legal" policies against its indigenous population yesterday and today; what Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela did was "illegal" and both were jailed for breaking the law; Hitler used the "legal" processes to eliminate Jews; and now with the state of Arizona using the law to control a people fits in perfect with history repeating itself.

In my opinion, the very people whom claim America as their own are the same group that do not even accept the aboriginal rights of natives here in America and are decendants of displaced, lost and bastardized foreigners themselves.

Most of these haters do not even know the history of the land they walk and claim their own, muchless perpetuate a continued racist and ignorant culture aimed at replacing the legitimate Americans, which are the indigenous tribes that include Mexico!
