NASA teaches Navajo kids

NASA program visits Shiprock

By Jacob MuselmannThe far reaches of outer space came to save some area students from the seemingly equal omniscient force: the boredom of summer.

About 30 students from first through eighth grade went through a sequence of constructing theoretical landing modules and habitats for Mars.

Arriving to Shiprock High School at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, students spent the day with hands-on activities to learn about space using straws, string and tape to learn about engineering concepts. The event was led by Glenn Research Center engineers and was provided by NASA.
