The segment takes viewers along on a nation cultural tour, which provides information on the nation’s structure, history, heritage and culture.
“It will generate more interest for the tours we provide and let people know it’s something we do offer,” said Anne Thundercloud, the nation’s public relations officer. “It’s for education, and it’s also a cultural experience for people because this brings them into our community.
“They can learn from us (and) they’re not learning from a book or a video—they’re experiencing our story, from us, in our community.”
The upcoming episode of the Wisconsin-based tourism program will air April 30, 2011, and May 1, 2011, and feature the nation and three other Wisconsin tribes, including the Oneida, the Bad River Band of the Chippewa and the St. Croix of the Chippewa.
