History tree is holiday fixture at Prairie Star

By Beth WischmeyerHistory lines the walls and the shelves at Prairie Star Gallery on a daily basis, but during the holiday season, the history of various Native American tribes come together to decorate the branches of a 12-foot-tall Christmas tree.

The tree features dozens of handmade ornaments by more than 100 Native American artists who send in their holiday fare all year long to be displayed on the tree.

The tree's purpose, Boyd said, is to bring together the history and culture of all types of Native American tribes and celebrate the holiday season.
