Sand drags return to Soboba this weekend

By Gail WessonDeNunzio said the association has an agreement with the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians for this weekend and an October event.

"The tribe is excited to help bring the sand drags back to the valley," tribal information officer Mike Hiles said in a statement.And:Visitors will see a variety of classes racing including top-fuel dragsters, Jeeps and quads, and a category for children.

The national association conducted races at the Soboba track for about three years, last in 2007. The group canceled in 2008, citing safety concerns after a series of fatal shootings by deputies that left three tribal members dead.Comment:  Fatal shootings can put a crimp in any pastime.
