Cherokee songwriter nominated for GrammyLongtime country music singer, songwriter and Cherokee citizen Becky Hobbs has received her second career Grammy nomination for her latest album, “Nanyehi, Beloved Woman of the Cherokee.”
The album was inspired by Nancy Ward, who Hobbs found out is her fifth great-grandmother. Ward, a member of the Wolf Clan, was born in Echota, Ga., and was named Beloved Woman after taking the place of her husband in battle.Comment: For more on the music and play, see
