The arrest followed raids yesterday, September 6, at the group's Victory in Christ Church and South Meridian locations. The complaint filed by the agents says the Bureau of Indian Affairs previously determined that Webber is not a Native American Indian and his so-called Kaweah Indian Nation is not a Native American Indian Tribe.

What a croc, another miss carriage of justice.
ReplyDeleteI pray for the protection of Chief Thundercloud IV from the United States Governmnet.
What 'real' difference does him being a Federal Recognized Tribe (Indian recognized federal prison Camps).
What law has Thundercloud IV broken because he proclaims to be an American Native Tribe?
The Federal Government has violated its own constitutional laws by raiding a Church.
What laws has the faux-Indian Webber broken? Presumably the ones he was arrested for breaking:

ReplyDeleteWhat differences are there as well between the actions of the 'Kaweah tribe' and the Chickasaws, the Pequot, the Chickahominy, the Lumbee, the Kickapoo, and other "groups" that managed somehow to pass Federal muster and became Federally-recognized as tribes? Oh, but of course, the aforementioned "groups" have money to hand around, and thus all bets are off!

The difference is that the Pequots et al. passed muster and the Kaweah didn't. (Lumbee recognition is still pending, actually.) Why? Because these tribes had a documented history of more-or-less continuous existence and the Kaweah didn't.
ReplyDeleteAgain, the indicted "chief" Webber isn't an Indian. The "Kaweah tribe" he heads isn't the same one that applied for federal recognition. And that tribe was turned down in 1984.
So there's no similarity to, say, the Pequot case. The Pequots who reconstituted the tribe had Pequot blood. They had genetic "racial memories" of being Pequot, to use your unsubstantiated theory.

ReplyDeleteBut, would not the fact that the Pequot received the very recognition that you claim makes them 'Native' also proclaim them "Native' by genetic memory? Missed it by THAT much!
