It's the eighth year for the Ishi Gathering and Seminar, hosted by the Butte County Historical Society.
Friday includes activities for kids and adults.
For the kids, there's Ishi Day at Hewitt Park. From 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m., more than 500 school children will participate in hands-on learning experiences related to local Native Americans.
For adults, a full-day seminar "Assimilation Strategies of Native Americans, 1850-1916" will feature the stories of real Native American families and how they bridged the gap between traditional native culture and today's world.
