The CD, “2010 Gathering of Nations Pow Wow: A Spirit’s Dance,” features artists who performed at the 27th annual event in Albuquerque, the world’s largest gathering of American Indians and other indigenous people.
The album has 21 songs performed by Native musicians and drum groups from throughout North America. Those include Chief Leonard Crow Dog, Midnite Express, Tha Tribe, Buck Wild, Eyabay, Hail Creek, Cree Confederation, Head Stone, Rocky Boy, Wild Band of Comanches, Nakoda Nation, Mile High, Eagle Mountain and Cozad.
The CD opens with a prayer from Crow Dog, a Lakota elder and and one of the leading chiefs of the traditional Sundance in the country, said Derek Mathews, founder and director of Gathering of Nations.
