Soboba Reservation: Play portrays soaring eagle

By Gail WessonA play featuring Native American performers, called “Casiq the Eagle,” will be presented at 10 a.m. today at the Soboba Sports Complex on the Soboba Indian Reservation near San Jacinto.

The native cultural play is free and open to the public. Students will attend from Noli Indian School on the reservation. The school is supported by the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians and other tribes in the region.

The play is about the journey of a fearful eaglet raised in a chicken yard that becomes a powerful eagle mentored by other eagles to soar to freedom through forgiveness and determination, according to the play’s website.
