'Pocahontas' actress to highlight American Indian festivalBy Abbey RoyThe face and voice of Disney's "Pocahontas" will appear live this weekend at T.J. Evans Family Park during the Festival of Flint and Pow Wow.
Irene Bedard, the actress who provided the voice for the 1995 Disney film--and whose likeness was used for the animated Pocahontas character--will be a featured guest at the event, joined by a number of flint knappers, American Indian dancers and drummers, and other American Indian arts and craft vendors.And:
Bedard will be present with memorabilia from the numerous American Indian movies she has acted in, Reilly said, and will be available for photos and autographs. She also will perform with her husband and son.
"They've kind of taken some of the traditional (American Indian) stories and put them to music," he said.Comment: For more on the subject, see
