Ashton Kutcher goes Native

Getting down with the nativesAshton Kutcher as fashion bellwether? When Mr Demi Moore (pictured) wore a Native American-patterned jacket to a press call for his new film, No Strings Attached, the other week, he may or may not have been aware that he was tapping into an under-the-radar fashion trend. Navajo prints, these days most commonly associated with Ralph Lauren and dubious new age shops selling silver jewelery and incense, is about to have a moment.

Witness the Proenza Schouler A/W’11 collection, which featured Native American squiggles reworked for a digital age, with sharp edges and high intensity colours. See also the Rodarte A/W’11 show, which referenced Little House on the Prairie smock dresses featuring oversized interpretations of the traditionally zig-zag shapes.
