First Native concerto

Musician's concerto is rooted in Oneida cultureSaturday, the Green Bay Civic Symphony Orchestra audience will hear a piece created from Moore's inspiration, "Trumpeting the Stone."

Moore will be guest soloist on trumpet—and flugelhorn, water drum (made for him by Oneida craftsman Bob Brown) and turtle rattle. The work is rooted in Oneida culture.

"This was something that had always been a concept in my head since I became a professional player," Moore said. "There are no Native America concertos with Native American themes in them, and definitely no Native American concertos written by Native American composers.
