Dave Chappelle on Indians

Comment:  Chappelle busts some stereotypes but reinforces others.

Sorry...Chappelle crosses the line here in his unfunny and ill-advised attempt to be "provocative." Maybe he WAS trying to bust a few stereotypes...but let's be real. The audience was laughing AT Indians by his derisive remarks describing Natives as alcoholics, shopping for bows and arrows, and mocking Indian names.

By comparison, would it be funny for a Native comic to stand onstage before a white and native audience and have a black guy buying watermelon talking in "ebonics"?

Hardly...which is why this video is tremendously offensive.

I totally agree with you Carole that Dave Chappele crossed the line on his sketch about Native Americans. His remarks sometimes become too harsh especially to Native Americans. No wonder why Triumph the insult comic dog mentioned to his audience during his show at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas that they come to see him instead of Chappelle. You can check this Triumph clip at http://www.dotcomedy.com. I get the latest scoop on it because I work with NBC.
