Shenandoah to sing Obama's Anthem?
Ada Deer proposes that Joanne Shenandoah sings National Anthem on steps of U.S. Capitol
Some Native American leaders have started a campaign to have Oneida Nation native Joanne Shenandoah sing the National Anthem on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to lead up to Barack Obama's inauguration.
A news release from Carrie Chesnik says the movement was started by former assistant Secretary of the Interior Ada Deer at the Oneida Nation territory in Green Bay, Wisc.
Grammy Award winner Shenandoah has performed all over the world.
