Wanted: Prom dresses for girls on reservationAn event providing prom dresses for teenagers on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation needs donations.
The annual Passion for Fashion event provides support for teens on the reservation who might not have the financial means to purchase such prom essentials as formal wear, jewelry and makeup. Comment: Instead of going to the prom, Indian teens could participate in their traditional culture, which didn't have superficial and sexist events such as proms. Just a thought.

That sounds a bit paternalistic. Why not see what the families and girls want first?
I'd tell non-Indian teens to think twice about participating in superficial and sexist events such as proms also. If that sounds a bit paternalistic, well, I am old enough to be their father. But they're free to do what they want regardless of what I think.
