Mohegan NASCAR champion

Auto racing:  Uncasville’s Kobyluck feted during NASCAR banquetIt was a celebration that started in the pits in September but ended in a glitzy, formal affair Friday night at the Mohegan Sun’s Uncas Ballroom.

Matt Kobyluck and his crew, proudly decked out in black suits and orange ties, celebrated their first NASCAR Camping World Series East points championship at the Tour’s annual year-ending banquet.

“This is great, after all these years of racing to reach the pinnacle of the series that you’re in. There’s nothing better,” Matt’s wife, Lori, said.

For the Uncasville driver, it was only fitting that the event was held at the Sun. Mohegan Sun Casino has sponsored his No. 40 Chevrolet for the last 12 seasons and Kobyluck is a tribal member.

There is NOTHING BETTER than genuine victory after years of effort.

I salute the spirit of those who never give up, especially in the face of extreme adversity.

Busted:  Mohegan Sun Casino Walks Away From K&N Pro Series East Sponsorship With Matt Kobyluck

The longest running sponsor/driver relationship in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East has come to an end.

The Mohegan Sun Casino and K&N Pro Series East driver Matt Kobyluck announced together Monday that the Uncasville based casino will not return as primary sponsor for the Kobyluck Enterprises owned team, ending a 13-year partnership in the division.

"Matt Kobyluck, Kobyluck Enterprises Inc and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East have been great partners and a viable market for Mohegan Sun, and it's definitely something we will revisit in the future," Mitchell Etess, President and CEO of Mohegan Sun Casino, said in a release.

Kobyluck was the 2008 K&N Pro Series East champion. Kobyluck and his team have run full-time in the division since 1999. He has finished in the top-10 in the series standings every season since 2002.
