Indians laugh at themselves

Comedy goes nativeDef Comedy Jam, Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Axis of Evil Comedy Tour--the groups of comedians of various racial and ethnic groups uniting to break stereotypes and take healthy jabs at their own communities continually grows.

Next in line are four American Indian comedians who are touring the country with the Pow Wow Comedy Jam, which makes a stop at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort Saturday.

"Modern Indians have a sense of humor. We are not all standing on the side of the road like Chief Iron Eyes Cody crying over trash," says Marc Yaffee, who is of Mexican, Irish and Navajo descent. "We saw everyone else had a tour. We have a lot to say and wanted to expose people to Native culture."
