Adam and Wes must have been rather desperate to have taken those jobs! Glad to have read this report so I can skip these!

To which I responded:

Adam Beach is earning $2 million a year for SVU. He doesn't have to take stereotypical roles like Blue Duck.

Maybe he just wanted to play a villain for once. Or maybe he's the kind of actor who feels he must keep working even if the roles are inferior.

Or else he is an actor whose roles are few and far enough between that he could take all that were offered. Will Sampson, while he was alive, did the same. And that is why writerfella had seven Native American roles in a two-year period back in the 1980s. Someone offers at a good rate of pay, why should you say no?

Correspondent Ree writes:

I live in a very rural area surrounded by hills, so I can't get
CBS...didn't see "Comanche Moon." I can't help but wonder, though, why Native American actors of the caliber of Adam Beach and Wes Studi even sink to take on the portrayal of such characters????

Correspondent Amy adds:

The workaholic motive makes sense.

At this point, even an alcoholic motive would make sense...

Re "Someone offers at a good rate of pay, why should you say no?" Um, because it might hurt your people? Because there are more important things than your selfish self-interest?

What you're suggesting is the "Nazi guard" defense. Namely, "I was just doing my job. Therefore, what happened isn't my responsibility."

This is also the excuse used by the Indians who became Army scouts and hunted down other Indians. With your attitude, you would've fit right in with them.
