Best books about Indians
A lot of lists about Native American books include familiar titles by Momaday, Alexie, Deloria, Silko, Erdrich, et al. These books are good and important, but they're often not the best in terms of entertainment or informational value. The books I've chosen include history books, art books, photo books, mysteries, science fiction, and graphic novels. Many are by non-Indians.
The Indians in these books are from the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, New York, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America. Few are the typical Plains Indians that everyone thinks about when they think about Indians.
In short, every book on this list has earned an 8.5 or higher on my scale of 1-10. Try 'em, you'll like 'em.
