The Canary Effect trailer

THE CANARY EFFECT: Award Winning documentary--Delving deep into the often misunderstood and frequently over looked historic realities of the American Indian, The Canary Effect follows the terrifying and horrific abuses instilled upon the Indigenous people of North America, and details the genocidal practices of the US government and its continuing affects on present day Indian country.Comment:  As with Reel Injun, this looks like a well-made documentary. As with Reel Injun, I wonder if it says anything we haven't heard before.

To me it's more interesting to look for messages about conquest or genocide in a cartoon or comic book. That's something we may not have heard before.

But to lay a guilt trip about "horrific abuses" and "genocidal practices" on people...I don't know about that. I'd like to see a study about how effective this approach is.

Remember, the goal isn't simply to tell people how bad things were and are. It's to get them to feel and act sympathetically toward Indians. The two goals aren't the same, and the first may negate the second.
