Aboriginals = terrorists?

Forces’ manual says radical natives potential military threatRadical natives are listed in the Canadian army’s counterinsurgency manual as a potential military opponent, lumping aboriginals in with the Tamil Tigers, Hezbollah and the Islamic Jihad, according to a report in Saturday’s Globe and Mail.

The military is putting the finishing touches on the manual, but a draft version of the document obtained by the Globe outlines a host of measures the military might use to fight insurgents at home and abroad. They include ambushes, deception and killing.
References To Radical Indian Groups Removed From Canadian Anti-Insurgency ManualReferences to radical natives in the Canadian Army's counter-insurgency manual will not appear in the final version of the document, Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor announced.

The use of "radical Native American organizations" as an example of insurgents in a draft version of the manual has outraged native leaders, who viewed the wording as a threat to their political rights to protest.
Comment:  Oops, never mind.

All of which shows that matters truly have not changed since the turn of the 19th Century and that governments, US included, still feel that they are at war with the Native Nations. Should there be any new Native protests in the near future in any of the 50 states, Homeland Security and crack troops from various agencies will descend on the event and lay waste, asking no questions and taking no prisoners. Such events are portrayed in writerfella's short story, "The Last Quest". Native devotion to the land itself is viewed as disruptive, destructive, and dangerous by those who stole the land itself in the first instance. writerfella has stated heretofore that he is pleased to see so many guns that once were aimed at his people now being aimed at people overseas other than his own. It only would take the slightest provocation for that state to become reversed. Natives survived their conquest by EuroMan, and did not vanish, as so had been so predicted. EuroMan always has held that against them...

POSTSCRIPTUM: And such events also are depicted in writerfella's screenplay, RUN BEFORE THE BUFFALO, which takes the 1973 Wounded Knee events, relocates those to Sand Creek, Colorado among the Cheyennes, and then lets them play out after a decorated Kiowan Viet Nam war veteran joins in, a person with the Tohn-Kohn-Gaw (Black Leggins) power 'not to be touched by bullets'... AIM people who have read it, hate it. Ordinary Native people who have read it, love it. writerfella must be doing something right...

I'm glad to see you commenting on it finally. I wondered whether I was crazy the other night when I heard it on the radio but couldn't find any backup stories...nor could I remember which station I'd heard it on. Evidently it was the Canadian one I listen to sometimes. I also thought it was about the US doing such a thing...which would sadden yet not surprise me at all. :/
