Upcoming:  Comanche Moon

What’s Coming...Comanche Moon Premieres January 13Wanna see Adam Beach with hair like Cher? Me neither, but the upcoming CBS miniseries Comanche Moon boasts an impressive pedigree—the prequel to Larry McMurtry’s ballyhooed Lonesome Dove novel and miniseries stars Wes Studi, Val Kilmer, David Midthunder, Karl Urban and the aforementioned Cher-and-Cher-alike Beach. Ahh, but will it be worth watching? Not if it follows the lead of HBO’s Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee or 2005's Into the West. But it’s a new year, and I’ve promised not to prejudge even though the promos once again relegate Indians as mere buckskinned backdrops. Take a look-see at the CBS website and videos and decide for yourself.Comment:  I'd say the quality of the cast is no guarantee of the quality of the movie.

writerfella agrees, but only as far as COMANCHE MOON should not be judged until AFTER it has been aired. There is an anomaly here, however. What would be the judgment become if Wes Studi, Val Kilmer, David Midthunder, and Adam Beach WERE NOT IN THE CAST? Oooh, that's a whole other can of worms...

Karl Urban? He's the real McCoy.

Ouch.

Karl Urban also starred in Pathfinder. Coincidence, or is he interested in movies about Indians?

Wow, that one nearly flew right past writerfella! Of course, Karl Urban is "the real McCoy," as he plays the young Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy in the upcoming STAR TREK 11! Being a New Zealander, Urban also was a semi-regular on XENA, was in two of THE LORD OF THE RINGS films, and was the 3rd lead in THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK. Oh, writerfella can't wait, can't wait!
