The latest on Tonantzin Carmelo

Roscoe Pond reports the latest from actress Tonantzin Carmelo:Hi Roscoe--My new projects include playing the voice and image of Kendra Daniels in the EA video game "DEAD SPACE." My Voice Over Work in a national commercial with Lisa Kudrow. I also just finished a potential recurring Guest Star on a Jerry Bruckheimer, Danny Cannon Pilot called, "The Line."Comment:  I wonder what happened when the Twilight people auditioned Carmelo to play Leah? They did audition her, didn't they? She's cute and a real Native and a proven talent as an actress.

If not Carmelo, how about Crystle Lightning? Or Misty Upham? About the only reason not to hire one of these Indian women is a racist prejudice against them in favor of sexy Disney-style girls.

For more on the subject, see The Best Indian Movies.

Tonatzin would make a great Leah. Not only is she an actual Native, her body type is a bit more in line that Vanessa Hudgens or Brenda Song.

She is an excellent actress. wonderful in Imprint. However, my only concern for her to be Leah is she looks a little older than the character calls for. Leah is supposed to be 19 at most - possibly 20. Most of the other native actors cast are pretty young. around 18 to early 20s. However, she could look younger; maybe just looked older for Imprint as she was dressed in business suits etc for part. Its hard to tell.
