Quileute chairwoman visits Oprah

West End residents on 'Oprah' for 'Twilight' special

By Paige DickersonAnna Rose Counsell-Geyer, chairwoman of the Quileute tribe, and Forks resident Diane Winters were among the special audience guests who will be featured during the Oprah Winfrey Show's "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" special that will air May 13.

The show was filmed Wednesday in Chicago.

Counsell-Geyer was accompanied by tribal publicist Jackie Jacobs.

"It is so wonderful that both Forks and the Quileute Nation are represented," Jacobs wrote in an e-mail.

"You add 'Oprah' to the equation and it makes the event that much more surreal," Jacobs said.

"I personally hope she is 'Team Jacob.'"

The May 13 episode, which airs at 4 p.m. on NBC, will promote the June 20 release of the third movie based on bestselling vampire novels that author Stephenie Meyer set in Forks, LaPush and Port Angeles.
Comment:  A few people on Facebook complained when the NMAI posted the Oprah news. In response I wrote:No one except a few fans cares about Oprah or Twilight. The point is a tribal leader on national TV. Get it, peeps? For more on the subject, see Twilight Saga: Eclipse Trailer and Quileute Werewolves in Twilight.

We all know what Oprah looks like. How about a picture of Counsell-Geyer instead?
