ICI used to justify classes

From correspondent Cedar Wolf:O-Si-Yo, Rob.

Greeting from Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the capitol of the Western Cherokee Nation.

I've been a subscriber of your newsletter for a while and find it invaluable in keeping up with this end of the comics scene as I attempt to explain to the University where I teach that we need to adopt comics as a teaching medium for those who may not even speak English as a second, or third language. So far, the course has been approved three times, and removed from the course offerings each time because of a "back to basics" business approach here. Ah, well...
Comment:  This is called education, friends. As I said before, it's central to advancing and improving the state of our union.

A few quotes on the subject may help make the point:

"In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have."Lee Iacocca"It must be remembered that the purpose of education is not to fill the minds of students with facts... it is to teach them to think, if that is possible, and always to think for themselves."Robert Hutchins"Education is not the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire."W. B. Yeats
