This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.
“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.
Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”
Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.
Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs”--how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description--as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimos,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.
In other words, if it looks like a pig and sounds like a pig, it probably is a pig. Even if it's wearing lipstick.
It seems Palin is a typical American in yet another way. She's prejudiced against the Natives she supposedly appreciates.

I do wonder if the comment is real, or is made up like your last "Below" comment. Someone pointed out that it looked like an Onion parody, and another points out that the creator of the story appears to have a fake resume.
For me, one part that calls it into question is someone telling him a statement that contained the mention of the "glint in McCain's rheumy eye". Who talks that way? Really? Nobody talks that way, but quotes like that are easily made up in creative writing exercises.
If it is real, it is bound to be prevalent, and Lucille or someone else will come forth.
Or maybe it is like the claim from another left-wing "journalist", Randi Rhodes, who claimed that it was well known in Alaska that Sarah Palin likes to have sex with underage boys.
"A glint in [someone's] eye" is a common-enough phrase. So you're objecting solely because of the word "rheumy"?
It's fairly well documented that Palin is mean and vindictive. It isn't much of a leap to think she uses mean and vindictive language.
Charley James, the author, talked about his use of unidentified sources in a followup column. Here it is: Sarah Palin and Me.
I didn't read all the comments on both columns, but I did search them. I didn't find the words "Onion," "parody," "fake," or "resume" in either one. So I don't know what you're talking about when you refer to James's resume.
