She is one of three known American Indian women who are playing Division I basketball this season. A throng of family and friends from the reservation are expected to be in attendance.
She's received some national press—USA Today and Sports Illustrated For Kids, for example—but that's not what drives her."I just want to be a role model for the kids on the reservation," Begay said after her team's practice Tuesday afternoon. "I hope that a lot of them can come and watch not just me, but our team. Without my team, I wouldn't be anything."
