Yucca Mountain = environmental racism

Nevada Indian dubs Yucca Mountain proposal 'environmental racism'An American Indian drew applause during a public hearing on a proposed national nuclear waste dump when he accused the Energy Department of "environmental racism."

"Transportation of waste to Yucca Mountain would place a disproportionate burden upon the Western Shoshone nation and has not been addressed," Western Shoshone National Council member Ian Zabarte told a Monday hearing on environmental impacts and transportation plans for the repository in the Nevada desert.

"It is environmental racism," he said.

Writerfella here --
How interesting that writerfella's (and his cousin Milton Paddlety) proposal for a partially-Native based TV series, FREELANCE, which still is being optioned by The Kennedy-Marshall Company, features that very Yucca Mountain controversy some six years before it existed! A Native tribe's Business Committee secretly sells out a portion of tribal lands for nuclear waste disposal/storage without the tribe's knowledge and/or consent. Sometimes, science fiction only just barely is in front of reality. You heard it here, FIRST!
