Cherokee rapper signs with Eminem's label

Cherokee Rapper Yelawolf Signs to Eminem's Shady Records

By RezX ChrisUnderground rapper and internet sensation Yelawolf has just been signed to Eminem's Shady Records, an imprint of Interscope Records, home of 50 Cent, Black Eyed Peas and Dr. Dre. What's even cooler is he is part Cherokee, making him the first Native American rapper to be signed to a major label in the U.S. (Sorry Litefoot, you signing to Roca-fela just didn't look like it actually happened).

Judging by his white skin complexion, crazy hair cut and numerous tattoos, you wouldn't guess Yelawolf, whose real name Michael Wayne Atha is part Cherokee, but he is and proud of it.
Comment:  For more on Native rappers, see A Tribe Called Red and Hip-Hop Album for Leonard Peltier.

You might not guess it, but most Cherokee are actually mixed.

Hopefully he's better than War Party, which, between them, Snow, and Drake, I am now convinced it's a Canadian thing. LOL
