Young mariachi star has Navajo roots

Yes!

The 12-year-old daughter of Sawmill, Ariz., native Tommy Begay won first place Dec. 4 in her age category at the Mariachi Vocal Competition in San Antonio, Texas, where she lives. The contest was part of the 16th Annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza, one of the biggest mariachi events in the country.
