Documentary about Hearing Radmilla

Radmilla Cody comes to Civic Center

By Alysa LandryShe grew up without running water or electricity.

Her reign as Miss Navajo Nation was controversial.

An abusive romantic relationship landed her in federal prison.

Yet Radmilla Cody, 34, credits her challenges for carving her into the woman she is. Her life is the subject of a film showing at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Farmington Civic Center.
And: The film "Hearing Radmilla" was 10 years in the making, producer Angela Webb said.

Webb, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, started filming when Cody was Miss Navajo Nation.

"I didn't realize I would still be working on it 10 years later," she said.

The film evolved as Cody's life did. Webb particularly wanted to capture Cody's activism against domestic violence, she said.
